Why the welder would be affected by the minimal voltage drop of a #8 or #6 25' cord, I don't know. The manual specifically says "Do not use an extension cord with this welder", and also advises against altering the power input cord. Save 309 by shopping at Harbor Freight. To the surprise of most users, it can weld a ¼ inch rod at 240v input with quite good results. At the 70-amp output, it can weld a 1/8-inch rod. The compact unit has a dimension of 17.25x 12.
